Julia Ann Eisenbise Fry, 1814-1893
Born in Armstrong County, Pa.; died near Mt. Carroll in the home of her son, William H. Eisenbise, May 19.
In 1848 she united with the Church of the Brethren. When quite young she and her mother were captured by the Indians but were rescued by settlers. She was a niece of President James Buchanan. She was of Scotch-Irish descent.
Her mother, older sister and President Buchanan were the only relatives she remembered ever seeing. She had a keen mind, a retentive memory and unusual descriptive poweres. She entertained her friends for hours in relating incidents that occurred when she accompanied her husband, Daniel Fry, to Denmark.
She may be considered one of the great women in the Church of the Brethren of Northern Illinois
