I'm related to Jennie NEFF (b. abt 1866) of Freeport, Il. Her parents were John W. NEFF (d. abt 1891) and Mary MITCHELL. Mary's father was Col. James MITCHELL. I believe all these folks lived in Freeport a long time. Jennie married John Shannon HARPSTER (b. 1859) in 1896. John had lived in Freeport since about 1880.

I am trying to locate the locality of my ancestor who died in 1841 in Stephenson County, Illinois. I would like to gather confirmation on this.

Is there a census index for 1840 in Illinois or mortality list? Does anyone have access to Stephenson County records? The ancestor I am looking for is Aaron BAKER who was married to Anna "Allen" Baker. Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you

John died 10 Feb 1897 in West Point Twp., Stephenson Co., Ill. buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Warren, Jo Daviess county, Ill. Amelia died 24 Dec 1893 in West Point Twp., Stephenson Co., Ill. buried in same place as John. I am researching Aaron GRIGSBY father of William Grigsby he married Sarah Ann CAIN daughter of George Cain. William and Sarah had a daughter named Oranna Lucritia Grigsby born approximately 1850? who later married Andrew Jackson RICHARDSON son of a William Richardson.
