Conrad VANBROCKLIN was the father of my GGGrandmother, Phoebe. I have an interesting history of the Van Brocklins, but nothing on the BOLTONs of Stephenson Co. Conrad married Harriet SEARLS in January of 1832. Phoebe married Albert Richard DICKEY in 1853 and moved to Iowa. Conrad's father was Alexander VANBRACKELEN, born in 1768 and he married Barbara CROTCHENBERG in Fonda, New York. Let me know if you want to exchange information. Regards, Tom

I am search information on a surname of FRIEBEN. In particular an "Otto Augustus FRIEBEN". I have traced him from Benton County Missouri back to Stephenson County IL through his Civil War records. He is listed in the Adjutant General's Report, in Company D, 37 Infantry and in it lists his residence as Lena, IL. Aug. 1861. At this point I have no idea if his family (parents) lived in this county. Was wondering if there is anyway I can query the land records from approximately 1845 through 1861 to see if any FRIEBEN purchased land in that area. Would appreciate any help or ideas you can give.

Comments: I am researching ancestors in Stephenson and several surrounding IL and WI counties. Of particular interest are Isaac and Sarah MCLAIN, Ridott and Freeport, ca. 1850-1900; their daughter Hettie and her husband Franklin Henry ADLEMAN, late 1800s; all people related to these four. Am also researching a very elusive ADLEMAN⁄EDELMAN--WOMELDORF connection. Would like to share info. Please e-mail me at: jaada@usa.net
